Hydrogen-production systems can include alkaline electrolyte circulation, cooling and other auxiliary liquid services. Where a seal-less pump is suitable, canned motor pump construction can help minimize external leakage and reduce shaft-seal maintenance.

For alkaline media such as KOH or NaOH solutions, material compatibility, concentration, temperature, density and corrosion requirements must be confirmed before selection. The required flow, head, system pressure and NPSHA are also necessary for hydraulic sizing.
